End-of-Life Presentation at St. Matthew

Death is inevitable, and the decisions made beforehand can make a difference in the care and comfort of a dying person and his or her loved ones. A presentation will be offered between the Sunday Masses on Feb. 26 in the Parish Conference Center, starting at 9:45 a.m. Health professionals involved in this specialized area will be available to help you explore end-of-life issues and provide information about what to expect when caring for someone who is dying. There will also be materials to help with family discussions and decision-making such as advance health care directives, palliative care services, end-of-life care and choices, hospice care, working through grief, funeral and memorial planning, living wills, and telling your life story. There also is a proposed program that will enable interested St. Matthew parishioners to sit with dying patients at the veterans hospital or at home to provide a comforting presence. Some of the veterans have no loved ones to visit with them and face going through the dying process alone. Information: Bridget Timoney, bridgttimoney@comcast.net or 424-6675.
