Summary
The St. Matthew Men's Club Lion's Pride Golf Tournament began in 2000 as a fundraiser to support the capital campaign for the church and school. 2011 marked the 11th year the tournament was held and it continues to be the biggest fundraiser for the Men's Club. From the proceeds, the Men's Club supports activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Parish Picnic, Feast Day, Oktoberfest, School Booster Club, Vacation Bible School, Tennessee Marine Family, and Breakfast with Santa. The tournament is funded through company sponsorships and donations from individuals. The player's greens fee supports the costs associated with the event. While the event has been held at various golf courses, it is now planned for Temple Hills Country Club, our neighbor. The greens fee covers not only 18 holes of golf, it includes a sack lunch decorated by our school kids, refreshments, a catered dinner, and an awards ceremony for the winners as well as auction items donated by local merchants. There is also an optional suite of mulligans, a hole-in-one contest, a putting contest, and a closest-to-the-hole contest with impressive prizes such as $10,000 in cash or a Pebble Beach Golf Vacation. The date for the tournament is usually a Monday in April.
Ministry Funding Opportunity
In 2011 we began a program where company and individual sponsors and donors may designate their tax-deductible proceeds to the ministry of their choice. For 2011 the choices were Capital Needs of the Parish, Youth Program (CYO), Music Ministry, School Tuition Assistance, School Athletic Booster Club, the Men's Club, and a blank were the donor could list their favorite ministry. Following is a graphic representative of the allocation of funds that may be directed:

Company Sponsors
Companies that donate sponsorship are entitled to a sign at one of the holes, a personalized recognition plaque, recognition on the St. Matthew website, and a tax-deduction letter. Company sponsorships are $500 and do not include greens fees.
Donors
Individuals or companies may donate any amount they wish and designate the funds in any combination to the ministries of St. Matthew Church and/or School. These donations are tax deductible.
