Wolf Cub is the second step of Cub Scouting and is for boys in second grade or who are 8 years old. Those of us who were Tigers in first grade have already earned our Bobcat badge. Any new Wolves that join us this year will need to do that first thing! To earn the Wolf badge, a boy must pass 12 Achievements involving simple physical and mental skills:
Along the way, Wolf scouts can earn Progress Beads. For completing the requirements in 3 Achievement areas, one gold bead is awarded and placed on the Progress Towards Ranks fob, for a total of four beads to earn the rank. It also has electives that a Wolf Cub Scout can work on to earn Arrow Points. There are chapters, too, on the Cub Scout World Conservation Award, Cub Scouting's Leave No Trace Awareness Award, and Cub Scout Academics and Sports. The "Get Set for Bear" chapter helps a Wolf Cub Scout move along the advancement trail to the next rank in Cub Scouting.
The Wolf Den is led by Jim McClain. Jim can be reached at jim@wmmcclain.com or by calling (615) 429-3501
