Family Life

The family is a basic structure of society and provides an atmosphere in which individuals come to emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social maturity. The Family Life committee advocates for a family perspective in all the parish's policies, programs, ministries, and services. It strengthens and supports marriages and families during times of growth and responds to their needs.


4000 - Active Parenting

Active Parenting is a series of 6 two-hour sessions that presents a practical parenting model through the use of video presentations, a parent guide and group discussion. The goal of the program is to show how, through the use of communication, respect, and the granting of age-appropriate privileges, parents can build a solid family foundation necessary for the challenges present in today's society. The strategies and techniques are practical and effective. Key topics in the series include effective communication, discipline with emphasis on natural and logical consequences, responsibility, sidestepping power struggles as well as character development.
 

 

Boy Scouts

4100 - Cub Scouts

Cub scouting is for boys in grades 1-5. Through den meetings, pack meetings, campouts and work at home, the Cub Scout program focuses on character development, team building, confidence and family oriented fun.

Boy Scouts is for boys aged 11-17. The program achieves the Boy Scouts of America's objectives of develping character, citizenship and personal fitness through boy led activities and outings.

4150 - Girl Scouts

The Girls Scouts mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts pledge to serve God and their country and to help others at all times. Girl Scout roundups will be held during the early fall.  Please check the church and school calendar for dates.

4200 - College Outreach

This program maintains contact with parishioners who are away at college. Cards and treat bags are sent to help encourage and strengthen our college students.  Volunteer writers and assist with a breakfast held for high school seniors.

 

College Students

This program provides college students with contact from the church community while they are away from home. Letters and cards from church members will be sent throughout the year. College students or parents of college students are encouraged to submit their names and addresses on the yellow sheets provided in the narthex.
 

 

4250 - DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a thirteen week Christian support group for individuals who are experiencing the heartbreak of separation or divorce. Find help, discover hope, experience healing and realize that you don’t have to go through the experience alone.
 

 

4300 - Lunch Bunch

The Lunch Bunch meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 12 p.m. in the church narthex for lunch and bingo. A small fee is charged for lunch and white elephant prizes for bingo are welcome.
 

 

4350 - Young Adults Bible Study

This group is for young adults in their 20's and 30's, single or married, who want to deepen their relationship with Christ through the help of their peers. They meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for bible study and conduct several social activities throughout the year.
 

 

4400 - Marriage Preparation Leaders

These teams of married couples help engaged couples who attend the Engaged Encounter Retreat prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony. Couples share ideals, attitudes and life experiences. Volunteer couples are needed to participate.
 

 

4500 - St. Matthew Mothers

This ministry gathers mothers with young children together for play dates, service projects and prayer time. By enriching fellowship amongst mothers and their families, this ministry is a wonderful way to meet other parishioners and create lasting friendships.


In order to keep the group informed and up to date on all of the various activities throughout the year, everything is posted on a completely private website. All emails, sign up opportunities, RSVP's, and other information is accessible on the St Matthew Mothers website. Members can log in at http://stmatthewmothers.qlubb.com.
 

 

4600 - Youth Ministry (Jr. & Sr. CYO)

Youth Group is open to youth in the parish (regardless of school attended) and is divided into two groups; Junior High and Senior High. The Junior High Youth Group is for youth in 7th-8th grade and the Senior High Youth Group is for youth in grades 9th-12th. Various activities are offered throughout the year for both groups. Activities are spiritual, social and service oriented.
