The Ascension of the Lord
The Ascension of the Lord 40 days after Easter is a moment of departure and of new beginnings. After experiencing a time of fullness with the Risen Lord, the disciples must now say goodbye. Letting go of the Lord must have brought a sense of sadness and disorientation. They gaze into the sky. The angel asks: “Why do you stand and look?” The next days will be a time of transition as they await the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Come Join the Lunch Bunch
Come join the Lunch Bunch of Thursday, May 24. We will meet in the narthex for lunch at 12 p.m. After our meal, we will play bingo for white elephant prizes. Water Bottles For Haiti School Children
When cleaning out your cabinets, don’t throw out those reusable water bottles! The students at Our Lady of Miracles in Haiti can use them! The students now have access to clean water and would love to have new or gently used water bottles so they can carry clean drinking water with them. Bottleswill be collected in the narthex the weekend of May 19-20.
Finding God in the High Country: A Men’s Backpacking Retreat
Fr. Mark Beckman will be leading a Men’s Backpacking retreat from June 24 through Wednesday, June 27, along 13 scenic miles of the Appalachian Trail. We will drive to Roan Mountain State Park on Sunday and stay in cabins. On Monday, we will begin the backpacking portion of the retreat with a night in the wilderness. Path of Remembrance Commemorative Pavers
The deadline to order commemorative pavers to be inscribed this summer for the Path of Remembrance is May 25. There are still some 4 x 8 bricks available.
